On June 3, 2009, “Three Boys From Pasadena”, an exhibit of photographs by Mark Arbeit, George Holz and Just Loomis opened at the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin. The show was conceived and curated by June Newton.
… For almost thirty years, they kept in touch and shared their personal work with both Helmut and June.
The show consists of 25 pieces of each photographer’s work, edited and selected by June Newton. Along with the photographs are never before seen memorabilia (photographs, Polaroid’s, correspondence, journals and books) from their time working together with Helmut.
This is a celebration of mentorship and friendship; many years in the making.
“As I wrote, you three were the only ones who became photographers in your own right. You three compliment one another and you all had a unique relationship with Helmut and you’ve become his offspring-you have your own voices. It was a special time in your lives – all four of you and I was the witness. It will never come again.”
